More than a new hotel: A family home in the heart of the Marais
In the heart of the Saint-Paul-Saint-Gervais district, in the Marais of Paris, a very special house is being born at 31 rue du Roi de Sicile.
By this simple street name, one finds themselves traveling back in time. The history of Paris will be at the foot of your bed. Literally, since the foundations of our house partly rest on the base of a 13th-century tower, a remnant of the perimeter wall of the Hôtel des Tournelles that the Duke of Anjou, the famous king of Sicily, built here.
In the 4th arrondissement, between La Bastille and Place du Chatelet, "Une Autre Chambre Saint-Paul" (formerly Hôtel le Compostelle) is ideally located in the most historic Parisian neighborhood. Place des Vosges is just a few steps away. On the Île de la Cité, Notre-Dame de Paris, stunning after its restoration, is a must-see along with the Conciergerie and Sainte Chapelle.
On the Île Saint-Louis, the neighbor, the atmosphere is quite different. The hustle and bustle disappear, giving way to the tranquility of a chic village. The mansions from the 17th and 18th centuries line the quays and the small streets that you explore with enthusiasm. Especially since all the facades display rich and opulent decorations.
Before returning to the mainland, stop for an ice cream at Berthillon. For those preferring pastries, the shop "Aux merveilleux de Fred" is hidden on rue du Pont-Louis-Philippe in an area where artisan, decoration, antiques, and design boutiques abound,
Walking along the banks of the Seine, the Hôtel de Ville will catch your attention, and a little further on, after the incredible Tour Saint-Jacques, the Place du Châtelet should capture your interest. On each side, two theaters face each other, the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Théâtre de la Ville – Sarah Bernhardt. The latter is one of the Parisian places that count in the history of "Une Autre Chambre Saint-Paul." Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac, Sarah Bernhardt, love, and passion are characters that are an integral part of our house.
